NCC1001: HeadStart / NCC1000: StepUp Career Modules |
|
NCC1001: HeadStart Module
The HeadStart Module, specially designed for freshmen, is a five-week tutorial module that will help you identify your strengths and interests early, right at the start of your university life. It will enable you to plan your curriculum and co-curricular activities for the next 3 – 4 years in NUS in an optimal way that will help you hone your soft skills and build your expertise and experience. You will also acquire skills to market yourself successfully for coveted projects, scholarships, overseas exchange programmes, internships and jobs. While HeadStart will be piloted with the AY2012/13 freshmen from the Faculty of Science in their second or third semester, freshmen and current Year 2 students from other faculties (except students who have read and passed BFS1001) are welcomed to sign up for the module.
NCC1000: StepUp Module
The StepUp Module is designed to help Year 3 and Year 4 students identify the careers that best align their profiles and interests and equip them with the essential skills to differentiate themselves and transit successfully into their first job. For students who have already attended some career workshops before or have already secured jobs through scholarships, you are still encouraged to sign up for this module for a chance to practice and reinforce theses essential life-long skills. This module is opened to all Year 3 & 4 students from AY2012/13 (except for students who have read and passed BFS1001).
Both are non-credit bearing modules. Students who successfully complete the modules will have a "Completed Satisfactory" (CS) recorded in their transcript.
To find out more about the modules, click HeadStart or StepUp.
To view the StepUp Timetable in CORS, click here.
To register for NCC1001: HeadStart or NCC1000: StepUp and select your tutorial slots, drop by the NUS Career Centre at the Yusof Ishak House.
With these modules, the NUS Career Centre will cease to offer "Career Planning", "Resume & Cover Letter Writing", "Interview Skills", "Networking Skills" and "Business Etiquette and Corporate Dressing" workshops on an ad hoc basis from AY2012/13, Semester 2.
