CREATE A FREN-ZY!
WELCOME BUDDIES
As a Welcome Buddy, you will be the first point-of-contact to new international students and will play an instrumental role in helping them as they form the first impressions of NUS and Singapore during the adjustment period.
You will be introduced to new international students via emails prior to their arrival in Singapore. Upon request, you will also get to welcome them and other new international students on exchange programme at the airport upon their arrival. As a Welcome Buddy, you are encouraged to meet the students on at least three other occasions within one month of the initial meetings to help alleviate their anxieties of being in a new environment.
Apart from meeting them at the airport, the level of involvement will be informally defined and the following are some of the things that you can do:
• Introduce yourself via emails before they reach Singapore
• Show them around campus and the nearby town centres
• Meet them over meals and coffee
• Guide them through the matriculation/registration process
• Provide information and assistance (if required) on opening of bank accounts, using ez-Link card, eating places, where to get toiletries, groceries, etc.
ISS will arrange for you to attend a briefing on administrative matters.
Transport allowance will be provided.
Start: mid July and third week of Dec
Commitment: 2 to 5 weeks before and after the start of a semester

FRIENDS OF NUS
'Friends of NUS' is to offer a hand of friendship and support to new international students of NUS. The programme promotes the building of friendships among people from different cultures and to many of the new students they get the chance to see and experience Singapore through the eyes of a "local".
Some of the suggested activities that you can initiate are:
• Meeting up regularly on campus
• Visiting Singapore places of interest
• Celebrating local festivals
There is no homestay requirement.
Participation in the programme is voluntary and the time involved is minimal every semester.

BE OFFICE-CIAL
INTERNATIONAL STUDENT AMBASSADORS (ISA)
About two to three weeks prior to the start of a semester, you will spend several hours a month assisting the ISS team in general administrative matters and providing advice to international students. You will also be the friendly face to new international students when they drop by our office to seek guidance and advice. Selected ISAs will also be given the opportunities to be hosts to foreign delegates from universities world-wide.
Training on office administration procedures and basic customer service skills will be provided to selected applicants. ISAs who are capable and committed will also be tasked with assisting in .
Start: Mid July

BE EVENT-UROUS!
EVENT ASSOCIATES
What better way to develop event and project management skills than to join us as an Event Associate? You will partner with us to plan and implement events and social activities for international students, or, you can simply choose to lend a helping hand during the events and activities.
Apart from organising events & activities, you can also accompany students on outings to chill-out and explore new knowledge frontiers, you are encouraged to join us in organising and brainstorming ideas for trips.
Besides meeting new friends, your entrance and chartered transportation fees (if applicable) will be on us, so what are you waiting for?
Start: June or July
Commitment: On ad-hoc basis throughout the semester ranging from 1 day to
4 weeks (if planning is involved) per event.

TALK-CUTIVES WANTED!
CONVERSATION PEERS
(more information will be made available between July and Aug, do keep a lookout for it!)
Fancy helping students to improve their spoken English and enjoying a good conversation at the same time? Once a week for an hour in-between or after classes, Conversation Peers meet up with students who are looking to improve their English conversation skills in an informal and relaxed environment.
Who can be a Conversation Peer? An ability to speak English fluently + A heart to help
Vacancies: between 100 to 200

WRITERS & DESIGNERS
If 'Content is King', how about becoming the creator of it? Showcase your creative energies and hone your skills in writing by becoming a volunteer writer for our newsletters and website.
If you have web designing skills or have basic knowledge in Macromedia and Adobe software applications, etc, you will definitely be an asset to the editorial team too! Have your published works form part of your portfolio that can serve as an integral part of your resume!

A chance to make show-stealing appearances parading in national costumes, showcase vocal prowess and flair for musical instruments in front of audiences from all over the world?
