What are my responsibilities as a host?
Who can be a host? Are only faculty members able to host? Must I be married to become a host?
What kind of activities am I expected to be involved in as a host?
How would I select a student? Do I get to meet him/her first?
When do the students arrive on campus?
Is there much paperwork involved?
What are the typical time demands if I decide to get involved?
Is there a commitment for a specific length of time? If so, how long is it?
What choice does the student has in the selection process; what if my family is not what she/he has in mind for a good match?
Is there a financial expectation - eg. taking the student to dinner, the movies or trips around South-East Asia, etc?
Student
As an international student of the university (undergraduate or non-graduating), am I automatically enrolled for the HFP?
What's in it for me if enroll for the HFP?
Will there be any homestay involved with the host?
Am I allowed to select my host? Do I get to meet him/her first before the programme?
How often do I get to meet my host and what kind of activities can I expect to be engaged in?
Am I allowed to request for a change of host if I do not find a good match?
What is the financial arrangement between my host and myself - do I need to pay the share of my own expenses or do I assume that my host would take care of it all?
