SO Home > Snippets : International Student Festival In Trondheim

This colorful bi-annual event brings together 450 enquiring minds to promote tolerance and understanding and give people with different backgrounds a platform to share their ideas, knowledge and experience.

The participants immerse themselves in many days of lively meetings, thought-provoking discussions, exciting cultural events and social activities. They are hosted by a Norwegian family during the Festival.

"The Festival was indeed one of the best student festivals I've attended to date. The sheer amount of diversity I've encountered there made it a very interesting experience indeed."

~ Neau Ker Wee, Science, Honours (2005)

"More than anything, it was a humbling experience. I met students who hailed from countries in political and social turmoil and youths with strength in character whom I was not used to seeing. The people I met there changed me for the better. I was glad that I was a part of Festival 2005!”

~ Sherene Sera Jose, Computer Engineering, Year 3 (2005)

“One of the greatest joys in taking part in ISFIT is fostering strong, genuine friendship with people around the world. I’m still in touch with fellow participants long after the festival. In fact, one of them called recently to enquire about my well-being after hearing about the tsunami in Southeast Asia. With so many friends across the globe, the world is really my home whenever I travel overseas.

The other thing I’ve benefited from is the casual nature of the festival which encouraged a great deal of interaction. The relaxing feel of the event allowed not just rapport-building, but also a rare opportunity to know the world views of people from diverse backgrounds in such a short time.”

~ Erwin Hendarto, Engineering, Year 4 (2003)
