The Hitachi Young Leaders Initiative (HYLI) is a community relations programme developed and launched in 1996. It aims to identify and groom potential Asian leaders by bringing them together to discuss regional issues and establish contacts with influential government officials, prominent business leaders, NGO representatives and respected academics.

HYLI also offers student-participants a unique platform to broaden their outlook on regional and global issues while promoting Asian values and cross-cultural understanding.

The Hitachi Young Leaders Initiative 2012 is now open for application. For more details, please click here.

“I was not only able to understand regional events first-hand through my interaction with the participants at the Initiative - something I could not by merely flipping the papers or watching TV - but was also able to understand the viewpoints and experiences of the individual participants. This enabled me to appreciate and share in their contributions to a large extent.

The spirit is still burning within us to continue our camaraderie and what we had started at the event.  We look forward to the day when we can see unity among us in the region.”
