NUS SAVE students extend recycling efforts to Yew Tee Constituency

In Yew Tee Zone 4 and 8, SAVE students weigh recycling bins and go through the contents to understand the recycling contamination patterns of HDB residents. Surveys of 2800 households are also conducted to find out residents’ attitudes towards recycling.

'Save That Pen' to help Viet children

SOME National Univeristy of Singapore (NUS) students are attempting to cut wastage, promote recycling and help the needy - starting with the humble pen.

Their ongoing "Save That Pen" campaign encourages NUS students and staff to donate unwanted pens to be refilled and iven, through a non-profit organisation, to poor children to Vietnameses provinces.

NUS Recycling Masterplan Secures NEA 3R Funding

To support new waste minimisation and recycling projects, NEA launched an $8mil 3R Fund last year. To date, we received 43 applications, of which 9 were approved with grants amounting to $137,000, and 18 are still being evaluated. One of the applications approved is the National University of Singapore’s Recycling Master Plan to improve the recycling infrastructure and enhance the 3R culture in the University. The project is expected to reduce or recycle 540 tons of waste over 3 years.
