Policy and Guidelines

One Degree Up 25

One Degree Up - 25°C

From 22 Oct 2007, air-conditioning default temperature in NUS is set to be 25°C, in line with National Environment Agency (NEA)’s recommended guideline. (Please see official circular here). Air-conditioning accounts for about 60% of NUS overall energy consumption and hence this policy has effectively reduced the campus GHG emission by 3,380,000 kg CO2 in the first 6 months after its implementation.

New Building Design Standard

Design, Project Development and Building Improvement teams working on new construction and renovation projects on campus must exceed the Singapore Building and Construction Authority Green Mark Certified Rating Energy Efficiency Index by at least 25% for new buildings and 15% for existing buildings.
