NUS joins carbon management tool pilot run for more effective carbon emissions management

NUS joins five other leading organisations to sign up for the web based carbon management tool pilot run by world-leading provider of carbon reductions solutions, The CarbonNeutral Company, on 4 February 2010. Supported by the Economic Development Board (EDB) as part of the Urban Solutions Programme, the participating organisations will measure and manage their carbon emissions online to develop offset inclusive carbon reduction programmes that will reduce costs, build a strong environmental position and prepare them for future regulations.

The “NUS Fights Climate Change” initiative was launched by Professor Tan Chorh Chuan, then Acting President, in SAVE and CSC’s jointly organized Green Carnival 2008 on 25-27 August 2008. With the unveiling of this campus wide campaign, five environmental programmes were launched: Zer0waste, 1 Degree Up, Rebate2Earth, SAVE3s, Food4Thought and Sustainable Office Programme. Aptly abbreviated as “0,1,2,3,4 and SOP”, these programmes were formulated in line with the University’s Environmental Policy and fit into OES’ four strategic thrusts of Resource Usage, Waste Management, Protection, Care and Use of Natural Spaces, and Education and Awareness Building.
