At the formal launch of the International Alliance of Research Universities (IARU)’s campus sustainability initiative at the Copenhagen International Scientific Congress on Climate Change in March 2009, the Presidents of the ten IARU universities stated their ongoing commitment to continuously improve the environmental performance of their respective campuses as well as to build an ecologically literate community.
This carbon emissions inventory (with a baseline in 2008) is crucial in identifying specific areas and emission trends where emission mitigation strategies will have the greatest impact. It also allows NUS to continually monitor, track and review its progress.
