Faculty of Science (FoS) saw an opportunity to transform S15 Level 5 space into their 1st prototype open generic wet lab. Open labs encourage resource sharing and enhance interaction amongst researchers/students. It allows the Faculty to allocate lab bench instead of room space. Besides improving FoS’ space allocation efficiency, it provides flexibility in terms of space usage. This in turn reduces the need to regularly reconfigure built research floor space.

This Generic Research Lab is a BSL2 facility designed to meet current WHO Laboratory Safety Standards as well as PFM (Petroleum Flammable Materials) Regulations.
