What is it about fostering
a work life friendly culture in your department? Let me
pose you some questions to think about.
 |
Have you felt great knowing that you have
completed all the work you need to do for the day when
you leave work? |
 |
Have your weekends been enjoyable and free from work
concerns? |
 |
Have you felt satisfied with the time you spent with
your families, friends, children, personal hobbies or
even exercise? |
If most of your answers are 'No',
it seems that work has been dominating your life. Thus,
you must do something strike at that imbalance.
In OED, we place great emphasis on the importance of work-life
balance. We have been fostering a work-life
friendly culture in collaboration with our Social Welfare
and Recreation Committee. In this issue, we share with you
the activities we have organized to promote a healthy work-life
friendly culture in the department.
Last May, a team of staff participated in The New Paper
Big Walk. We share our experiences and the funny incidents
that occured during our walk. Then we'll
be sharing the recent walkabout we had at Mount
Faber Park. Read how our colleagues enjoyed the walks.
Next, we share with you the recent and upcoming
happenings at NUS. At the groundbreaking ceremony of Alumni
Complex on 8th May 2006, NUS was honoured to have Dr Tony
Tan as our Guest of Honour. Read on to find out what facilities
will be available at the new Alumni Complex.
