I recently attended a roundtable
where I realised the importance of knowledge sharing. Sharing
of knowledge has not only helped organizations to improve
but also helped them to do preventive action of similar
cases. In office, my colleagues and I shared knowledge by
putting information or documents on a central repository
where staff can be updated.
This month's issue is sharing
of knowledge. It is a very important milestone for us if
we were to embrace this knowledge sharing to help one another.
Last week, we invited the various tertiary institutions
like Singapore Polytechnic, Nanyang Technological University
to join us for a networking session cum roundtable on Facilities
Management where we shared best practices and information
with one another so as to improve work processes and avoid
reinventing the wheel where certain policies can be re-adapted
from institutions. Let us share with you on the salient
points we have learnt from the networking session cum roundtable.
Next, our internal Human Resource Unit shared the best
practices and concerns during an orientation programme.
OED has been conducting orientation programmes involving
all divisions in the department so as to orientate new staff
on OED functions. Read on to
learn on how to improve your current orientation programme
or start a programme.
Last March 2006, OED organised a Quality Service Day, inviting
guests from the various departments to share the importance
of service quality. We have invited Assoc Prof Tan Kay Chuan
of the Office of Quality Management to be our Guest of Honour
and Ms Josie Liow from McDonald’s to give us a talk on "Inspiring
to Connecting with More Customers".
If you have anything to share with us or in the university,
please submit it to us at onsite@nus.edu.sg.
