PDA Application for OED (by Teo Hwee Yean)
Office
of Estate & Development and Computer Centre have jointly developed
an integrated system for Facilities Management by the application
of Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs).
The development of Phase 1
- Equipment Maintenance and Work Notification modules, has been
completed and implemented in early December 2003. The maintenance
process will be automated thereby reducing paper usage and increasing
accuracy levels as the database is now stored in digital format.
The performance and control over maintenance contractors and suppliers
will also be improved through a reduction in equipment downtime.
The development of Phase 2
- Metering, and Phase 3 - Security & Car Park modules will be
in place by the first quarter of 2004. A total estimated savings
of $80,000.00 annually is expected through this initiative.
