Student Profile |

Faculty: Faculty of Science
Major: Food Science & Technology, Year 2
Co-curricular Activities (CCAs):
I serve as captain of the NUS Aquathlon Team and did sports like swimming, running, track and field for Temasek Hall.

Why did you decide to come to NUS?
NUS has events and activities all year round, including opportunities both locally and overseas for students to participate in and enrich themselves. There is something for everyone. Combine that with world-class teaching staff and excellent facilities, and a solid education is what you can expect from NUS. Also, NUS offers a course on food science and technology which was my area of interest. I am enjoying myself so far.
After deciding to study at NUS, I discovered that the University offered attractive scholarships that were bond-free. I applied successfully for the Global Merit Scholarship. Being bond-free, it supports outstanding individuals for their undergraduate studies without requiring them to serve any bond after graduation. The Scholarship also supports recipients for overseas programmes like the Student Exchange Programme (SEP) or the NUS Overseas Colleges programme.
Fondest memory at NUS
The fondest memory would be doing the Ironman Switzerland 2009 with some of my team mates from the NUS Aquathlon Team.
I thoroughly enjoy training with the NUS Aquathlon team. It consists of a bunch of like-minded individual who train very hard and enjoy the sport. We all have different goals and targets but we are moving in the same direction, and we help each other along the way. As much as triathlon can be seen as an individual sport, there is a whole lot of friendship and camaraderie behind it on and off the race course that I am really grateful for.

Balancing studying, family, friends and work
I think that choosing an area of studying that is in line with one’s area of interest makes the whole process a lot easier. I also find it good to join one of the clubs or participate in activities on campus to have a balanced student life.
Making Friends
Food Science and Technology is such a small course that everyone knows everyone else. I am also close to my team mates in the Aquathlon team. I don’t find it difficult to make friends within the course or through the clubs and teams in NUS!
