The Lee Kuan Yew Scholarship To Encourage Upgrading Award (LKY-STEP) was established from donations received from Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew through the sale proceeds of autographed editions of Volume 2 of his Memoirs. The objective of the award is to encourage upgrading and lifelong learning. The awards will be offered to outstanding polytechnic graduates pursuing full-time undergraduate degree courses at NTU, NUS, SMU and SIT.
Eligibility
Awardees must fulfill the following criteria:
- Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Fresh Graduate
- Matriculating into full-time undergraduate degree courses in NUS/NTU/SMU/SIT
- Outstanding Academic Achievements (preferably Diploma with Merit)
- Good Co-Curricular Achievements (CCA) records
Terms & Conditions
The LKY-STEP awards the following:
- One-off cash award of $3,500*
- LKY-STEP Award holders who are unsuccessful in securing a concurrent scholarship will have their tuition fees waived by the Universities
- No bond attached
- Holders of the award may concurrently hold other bursaries or scholarships.

Application & Shortlisting Procedure
- Application for the 2013 LKY-STEP Award is planned to open in May 2013.
- Applications should be submitted to Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT), which is the award secretariat for Academic Year 2013.
- Application dates are subject to revision and prospective applicants are advised to check SIT's website in April-May for updates.
