This scholarship is open to all freshmen coming into NUS in AY 2009/2010. All other applicants should apply during the year of their incoming to NUS.

Applicants for the Khoo Teck Puat Scholarship must:

• be Singapore citizens or People’s Republic of China (PRC) citizens;

 

• assessed to be financially needy and have a gross monthly household per capita income of $750 and below; and

 

• have offered GCE 'A' levels, Diploma from a polytechnic in Singapore, equivalent qualifications (e.g. International Baccalaureate ) or equivalent qualifications direct from China

 

• The Khoo Teck Puat Scholarship Programme covers tuition fees and provides an annual living allowance of S$5,800. For PRC citizens, an annual accommodation allowance (pegged to the lowest room rates) as well as one-way airfare at beginning of course and two-way air return passage upon graduation will be provided.

 

• The scholarship is tenable for the minimum period of candidature for the respective undergraduate course at NUS.

 

• This scholarship is tenable for any course leading to a first degree, except Medicine and Dentistry, Nursing and Music. Only Singaporeans (excluding Singapore PRs) and People’s Republic of China (PRC) citizens are eligible to apply.

 

• There is no scholarship bond attached to the Khoo Teck Puat Scholarship. PRC scholars are required to take advantage of the Tuition Grant Scheme and serve a 3-year Tuition Grant bond under the Scheme upon graduation.

 

• Recipients of the scholarship must not concurrently hold any other scholarship, fellowship, grant or award.

 

• The scholarship covers the entire duration of undergraduate studies. Academic performance will be monitored on a semester basis.

 

• If the scholar decides to terminate the scholarship prematurely, he will be required to refund the total value of the scholarship that is accorded during the course of study, together with 10% compound interest per annum.

 

• The Application period for the Khoo Teck Puat Scholarship for 2009/2010 is now closed.

 

• Selection interviews will be conducted from June 2009 onwards. Candidates will receive an email notification if they have been selected to attend the interviews.

 

• All shortlisted candidates will be informed of the results of their interviews by July 2009.

 

• Scholarships are awarded on the basis of competition among eligible candidates. Recipients will be selected from among the best in each cohort.

 

• NUS reserves the right not to award any scholarship if there are no candidates of sufficient merit. The decision of the selection committee is final. Enquiries or disputes surrounding its decisions will not be entertained.
