For the 'A' Level results component, we will consider the best three content subjects and General Paper grades taken at one sitting. The maximum points for an 'A' Level subject is 20 and for an 'AO' subject it is 8. This will provide a maximum attainable score of 68 points for the A Level component.
We will consider your best MTL subject grade (e.g. 'AO' MTL or 'O' Level higher MTL) only if you provide the result for consideration. The revised total points will be regrossed to the 68 points scale. We will include it in the scoring only if it raises your University Admission Score (UAS).
Please note that though it is not mandatory to include the MTL results in the computation of the UAS, you are required to meet the minimum requirements for MTL as stipulated here.
Please note that 'S' papers taken at the 'A' Level examination are not considered in the computation of the UAS.
The following subjects taken at the Singapore-Cambridge GCE 'A' Level examination are not taken into consideration for computation of the UAS :
The following subjects are counted as subjects for computation of the UAS at 'AO' Level only; regardless of the level at which you have passed the examination :
If you have have done well in your higher MTL subject (Chinese, Malay or Tamil) or MTL subject (Chinese, Malay or Tamil) at the 'A' Level examination, you are eligible for MTL bonus points on condition that you pass the required modules in your respective MTL subjects:
The following MTL bonus points will be awarded:
The MTL bonus points will be added to the Singapore-Cambridge GCE 'A' Level component for computation. The use of bonus points to gain admission to NUS is similar to the award of bonus points for admission to the Junior College Chinese Language Elective Programme.
If you have used the MTL bonus points for admission to the Arts and Social Science course, you will have to sign an undertaking at the point of acceptance
.For more information on the use of bonus points to gain admission to MTL-related courses, you can refer to MOE website.
Project Work (PW) will be included in the computation of UAS from 2005. PW is completed during a candidate's studies in a Junior College (JC) or Centralised Institute (CI).
The grading of PW is in terms of achievement bands; i.e. Band 1 (best), 2, 3, 4 and Ungraded (U). U grade is awarded when candidates are unable to meet the minimum requirements in PW. The PW grades would be obtained from MOE directly by NUS.
If the candidate is exempted from PW as approved by MOE, an 'X' grade will be awarded.
Candidates, who sat for their Singapore-Cambridge GCE 'A' Level examinations in 2003 or earlier as their 1st sitting and may have retaken their Singapore Cambridge GCE 'A' Level examinations in 2004 and/or thereafter, would not be disadvantaged when they are apply for admission to NUS in 2010.
With effect from AY2007-2008, CCA PEARLS and CCA-NS PEARLS points are no longer taken into consideration for computation of the UAS.
SAT I scores are no longer considered in the computation of the UAS.
However, SAT I scores can be used to meet the minimum subject requirement for Law-related courses, ie.
if you did not obtain the minimum B3 grade (for old syllabus) / B (for new syllabus) for General Paper (GP) or B in Knowledge & Inquiry (KI) (for new syllabus) required for Law-related courses, you may submit your GP result (at least a C6 / E grade) together with a minimum score of 700 for SAT I Critical Reading, to satisfy the subject requirement.
Only SAT I Critical Reading scores obtained in the 5 years leading up to 1 April of the year of application will be considered. For applications closing on 1 April 2010, the validity period for SAT I Critical Reading score is from 1 April 2005 to 1 April 2010 (both dates inclusive). Therefore the last acceptable test date for SAT I score is 23 January 2010 (April/May 2010 SAT I scores will not be considered).
We set aside up to 10 % of vacancies for consideration of exceptional candidates for admission to NUS. For such candidates, we will consider other factors besides grades. The following are some samples of exceptional achievements that we may take into consideration :
In addition, you can provide information on awards/honours that you have won. If you wish to be considered under this scheme, you should provide the details in the 'Discretionary Admissions' section in the online application form. You should then follow up by sending supporting documents to NUS. Please note that if the 'Discretionary Admissions' section in the online application form is not filled in, you will be deemed as not interested for consideration under this scheme.

Content proficiency refers to performance in the Singapore-Cambridge GCE ‘A’ Level examination and/or studies at a Polytechnic in Singapore.
Experience is limited to full-time working experience only. It is not necessary if you have worked continuously for the same company or organisation for four years.
For experience and motivation to be measured, as a mature applicant, you should submit a personal statement form and two referee reports to the Office of Admissions by 1 April of the admission year. You are also required to submit an employment status letter* to confirm that you are currently working in an organisation.
*Letter can either be written by direct supervisor or the Human Resources Department.
The points accorded for SAT I, content proficiency, the personal statement form and employer referrals will determine whether you will be shortlisted for an interview.
Your employers may serve as referees. They must have supervised you but not be related to you. If you are self-employed, you may seek referrals from your business associates, who should be at least of managerial level and likewise not be related to you.
To be considered under the mature applicants category, applicants should apply using the category A application form and also submit a personal statement form, two referee reports and an employment status letter.
Applicants with incomplete submission of the necessary documents (SAT scores, personal statement form, referee reports and employment status letter) by the application closing date will be ineligible to be considered under mature applicants category and will only be considered under category A.
