Definition of Category E applicants
- Singaporeans or Singapore Permanent Residents with international

Admission requirements
Applicants seeking admission to NUS must have completed or are completing their high school, that is, at least twelve years of general education. Please select the relevant high school qualification listed below and review the admission requirements that apply to your high school qualification. In addition to fulfilling admission requirements, you should also ensure that you fufill the course subject prerequisites for the courses that you wish to apply for.
For current full time students from NUS, NTU and SMU seeking a transfer, you may also apply from October to November 2008.
If you are applying to Faculty of Medicine or Faculty of Dentistry,
please note that both faculties prefer to consider those with actual
instead of forecast results.
Qualification types and application requirements
NUS High School Diploma
The NUS High School Diploma, awarded by the NUS High School of Mathematics and Science, is acceptable for admission into the NUS undergraduate programmes. The admission requirements for the NUS High School Diploma will be available at a later date.

Qualifications in addition
to the Singapore-Cambridge GCE 'A' Level certificate
- Applicants presenting both the Singapore-Cambridge GCE
'A' Level certificate and an accredited Diploma from a local Polytechnic.
Applicants presenting the Singapore-Cambridge GCE 'A' Level results should apply under Category A.
Applicants presenting an accredited Diploma from a local Polytechnic
should apply under Category B.
Applicants presenting both the Singapore-Cambridge GCE ‘A’ Level
results and an accredited Diploma from a local Polytechnic should
apply using either one or both of their qualifications.
If they choose to submit both qualifications, they will receive
two application outcomes. If both outcomes are admission offers,
they are only allowed to accept one of them.
- Applicants presenting both the Singapore-Cambridge GCE 'A'
Level examination results or an accredited Diploma from a local
Polytechnic in addition to the Diploma in Education from the National
Institute of Education (NIE).
Applicants presenting both the Singapore-Cambridge GCE 'A'
Level examination results or an accredited Diploma from a local
Polytechnic in addition to the Diploma in Education from the National
Institute of Education (NIE) are not required to submit SAT I scores.
In addition to the Singapore-Cambridge GCE 'A' Level examination
results or the accredited Diploma from a local Polytechnic,
the reasons for application to the respective courses will also
be taken into consideration.
Please note that trainee teachers are bonded to the Ministry of
Education (MOE) for three years upon completion of the Diploma in
Education from NIE. Such applicants should preferably apply
for admission upon completion of their bond period. Otherwise,
such applicants would have to pay liquidated damages to MOE.
Applicants intending to apply for admission to NUS whilst serving
their bond should seek further advice from MOE.
SAT I - Reasoning Test
The minimum acceptable Reasoning Test scores are 600 for the Critical Reading Section, 600 for the Writing Section, and 650 for the Mathematics Section.
SAT II - Subject Tests
Compulsory subjects for the Subject Tests include :
- Mathematics Level II ^
- A second subject of your choice (excluding Mathematics Level I)
- A third subject of your choice (excluding Mathematics Level I)
These subjects can be taken in no more than two sittings, within a period of one year. All other combinations or mixing of scores cannot be accepted. Please note that the old test format (SAT I & II) and the new test format (Reasoning Test and Subject Tests) cannot be combined. The validity of scores is five years, e.g. for applications closing on 21 February 2008, the validity period is from 21 February 2003 to 21 February 2008 (both dates inclusive).
The second and third subjects should be chosen based on the subject prerequisites of the courses you are applying for at NUS. For example, if you are applying for Chemical Engineering, you will need to choose Physics and Chemistry. If, however, you are applying for Business Administration, you may choose any subjects except Mathematics Level I.
Please note that IELTS/TOEFL will not be required if applicants wish to apply for Economics & Law/ Law if they are presenting SAT I and II as their basis for admission.
No minimum Subject Test scores have been stipulated.
^ Mathematics Level II is a compulsory subject for all courses except Law. Applicants applying for admission to Law may take Mathematics Level I in lieu of Mathematics Level II.
