in addition to SAT I scores.
Admission requirements
Definition of 'mature'
A mature applicant is one who is at least 25 years of age with at
least four years of full-time work experience as of 1 July of the
admission year.
Computation of University Score
The University Score will be computed as follows:

2008 |
SAT I score
|
50% |
| Content proficiency |
25% |
| Experience and motivation |
25% |
Consideration of SAT I
SAT I scores are compulsory. They must be submitted before 1 April
of the admission year. Those without SAT I scores will not be considered
for admission. The best set of SAT I score taken in one sitting in the five years leading up to 1 April of the admission year will be taken into consideration. For applications closing on 1 April 2008, the SAT I must be taken
between 1 April 2003 to 1 April 2008. Applicants may not submit verbal
and mathematics scores from across sittings.
For applicants applying for admission to NUS in 2008 and submitting
the SAT I scores, please note that the last acceptable test date for
SAT I is 28 January 2008. May 2008 SAT I scores will
not be considered.
Content proficiency
Content proficiency refers to performance in the Singapore-Cambridge
GCE ‘A’ Level examination and/or studies at a Polytechnic in Singapore.
Experience and Motivation
Experience is limited to full-time working experience only. It is
not necessary for applicants to have worked continuously for the same
company or organisation for four years.
For experience and motivation to be measured, those being considered
under Category C must submit a personal
statement form and two referee
reports to the Office of Admissions by 1 April of the admission
year. Applicant is also required to submit an employer status letter* to confirm that he/she is currently working in an organisation.
*Letter can either be written by direct supervisor or the Human Resources Department.
The points accorded for SAT I, content proficiency, the personal statement
form and employer referrals will determine whether the applicant will
be shortlisted for an interview.
Employers of the applicant may serve as referees. They must have supervised
the applicant but must not be related to the applicant. Applicants
who are self-employed may seek referrals from their business associates.
Such associates must be at least of managerial level and must not
be related to the applicant.
Online application form
Category C applicants presenting the Singapore-Cambridge GCE ‘A’ Level
results and SAT I scores should apply using the Category
A application form. They must also submit a personal statement
form, two referee
reports and an employer status letter.
Category C applicants presenting an accredited Diploma from a Polytechnic
in Singapore and SAT I scores should apply using the Category
B application form. They must also submit a personal
statement form, two referee reports and an employer status letter.
Category C applicants with both the Singapore-Cambridge
GCE ‘A’ Level results and an acceptable Diploma from a Polytechnic
in Singapore, in addition to SAT I scores should apply using either
one or both of their qualifications. If they choose to submit
both qualifications, they will receive two application outcomes. If
both outcomes are admission offers, they are only allowed
to accept one of them. They must also submit a personal
statement form, two referee
reports and an employer status letter.
As long as ‘mature’ applicants submit their SAT scores, personal
statement form and referee
reports, they will be considered through their respective applicant
category and Category C.
