Definition of Category B applicants

Applicants (regardless of nationality) presenting an acceptable Diploma from a Polytechnic in Singapore.

Admission requirements

Applicants, regardless of nationality, applying under Category B should present a Diploma from a Polytechnic in Singapore. The Diploma must be acceptable for the course(s) applied for. Applicants should also submit their Singapore-Cambridge GCE 'O' Level results, if available.

Students in their final year of study at the Polytechnic can apply with their results obtained from their first 5 semesters of study. They should submit their final semester results to the Office of Admissions, NUS as soon as these are available.

The Category B admissions exercise for Academic Year (AY) 2008-2009 opens from 1 to 21 February 2008.

Computation of University Score

Applicants will be admitted to the University based on their University Score (US). The US is computed using two T-score formulae based on the Singapore-Cambridge GCE 'O' Level results AND Polytechnic results.

Under the current admission criteria, the University Score will be computed as follows:

Components Weightage
Polytechnic results
80%
Singapore-Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level results
20%

With effect from 2007, CCA-NS points will no longer be used for university admission score computation.

  2. Winner at the National Science & Talent Search
  3. Represented Singapore in Arts and/or Sports
  4. Active participation in community service and volunteer programmes.

  6. Key leadership positions in community organisations, sports and athletic clubs etc (outside school)

In addition, applicants can provide information on awards/honours that they have won. They should follow up by sending supporting documents to NUS.
