Applicants (regardless of nationality) presenting
the Singapore-Cambridge GCE 'A' Level results.
Who should use this form:
The Category 'A' online application form is
meant for:
- Applicants (regardless of nationality) presenting the Singapore-Cambridge
GCE 'A' Level results, including full-time National Servicemen
(NSF) who have a course reserved in NUS and wish to apply for
a change of course.
Do not use this form if you are:
- Presenting an acceptable Diploma from a polytechnic in Singapore.
- Presenting an international qualification.
- A current or former undergraduate or graduate student applying
for a change in course, transfer or admission.
Online application for Category 'A' applicants will commence three working days after the release of 2007 Singapore-Cambridge GCE ‘A’ Level results in March 2008. Two types of online
application forms are available, namely Online
application form Type I and Online
application form Type II.
Online Application Form Type I
Candidates who have been issued an Admission Personal Identification Number (PIN)
can apply using this application form. They must log in using their
NRIC number / FIN number and Admission PIN after selecting Online Application Form
Type I. Upon a successful login, they will be presented a pre-filled
form. They must verify the information presented (e.g. personal particulars
and results) and fill in additional information if required. The advantages
of using this system are:
- Minimal data entry is required.
- Submission of paper supporting documents is only required if
there are discrepancies. If all data displayed are accurate,
applicants will not have to submit any documents.
- Provide access to online status enquiry and other functions.
The following applicants will be pre-assigned a PIN:
- School applicants who sat for the Singapore-Cambridge GCE
'A' Level examination in 2007
2007 school applicants will be issued an Admission PIN (8 alpha-numeric character, case sensitive) by NUS to access the
online application system. The PIN slip will be sent to the postal
address by end February 2008.
- Private applicants who sat for the Singapore-Cambridge GCE
'A' Level examination in 2007
MOE will issue an alpha-numeric PIN in February 2008 to private candidates to
view their ‘A' Level results online. Candidates can use the original
PIN issued by MOE to access the online admission application system.
- Full-time National Servicemen (NSF) who have reserved places
at NUS
NUS will issue an Admission PIN (8 alpha-numeric character, case sensitive) to all NSF, who have reserved places at NUS,
to access the online application system if they wish to apply
for a change in course. The PIN slip will be sent to their postal
address in January/February 2008.
If you have not received, or have forgotten or misplaced your PIN,
please bring along your NRIC, student pass or passport to seek a replacement
of your PIN from the Office of Admissions, Block E3A, Level 1, 7 Engineering Drive 1 (opposite University Cultural Centre). You may also send a representative,
with a letter of authorisation and your NRIC, student pass or passport
to collect the new PIN on your behalf. The letter of authorisation
should bear your signature, NRIC, FIN or passport number and the representative's
NRIC, FIN or passport number.
We regret that we are unable to reveal PIN over the phone and/or email.
Detailed instructions on completing
Online Application Form Type I will be posted by mid February 2008.
Online Application Form Type II
Unsuccessful candidates who have applied for admission under Category
'A' in 2007 or earlier will use this form. However, if you have retaken the Singapore
Cambridge GCE 'A' Levels examination in 2007 as a School candidate,
you will then be using Online Application Form Type I by using the new PIN as reflected in the PIN slip which
will be sent to your postal address in mid February 2008. If you have
retaken the Singapore Cambridge GCE 'A' Levels examination in 2007
as a private candidate, you will then use the PIN given to you by
MOE (as indicated above).
Other candidates who are not in the above mentioned groups may
also apply for admission. In the application form, they will be asked
to enter an Admission PIN (8 alpha-numeric character, case sensitive). Please note that the Admission PIN is case sensitive. We regret that it is not possible to issue
a Admission PIN in advance.
These candidates and those who choose not to use Online Application
Form Type I can apply using the blank Online Application Form
Type II instead. Candidates using this form must submit supporting
documents. The documents to be submitted will be stated on the acknowledgement
page of the online application.
Detailed instructions on completing Online Application form
Type II will be posted by mid February 2008.

Appeal after the release of application
outcome (30 May to 5 June 2008)
Applicants, who wish to appeal against the admission decision of NUS, are allowed one appeal to be submitted online with your application number and Admission PIN, from 30 May to 5 June 2008.You may submit multiple appeals but only the last appeal received by the closing date of the online appeal will be CONSIDERED.
A total of 1000 characters are allowed for the appeal. The ability to summarise and be concise is valued. The length of the written appeal does not enhance your chances. The outcome of appeal will be released by end June / early July 2008.
Mass emailing to multiple parties within NUS outside the appeal protocol will result only in slowing down the appeal process. The NUS Office of Admissions makes the final decision on all appeals.
Applicants are advised to exercise personal planning. Applying only to NUS is not a valid reason for appeals.
While waiting for the result of your appeal, you should accept the course offered, or your place may be given to another applicant.
Please note that appeals to Architecture, Dentistry, Industrial Design, all Law-related courses, Medicine, Nursing and some of the double / concurrent degree programmes that require a selection interview, will not be considered, unless you have taken the required aptitude tests and interviews conducted earlier.
Rejection of application
Inaccurate or false information or omission of material information will render your application invalid. NUS reserves the right to reject applications that are incomplete or inaccurate. Persons admitted on the basis of inaccurate or false information may be expelled.
Request for Admission PIN after submission of application
If you have forgotten/misplaced your Admission PIN (8 alpha-numeric character & case sensitive) after submitting your online application, you can retrieve your Admission PIN via our Online Application Status Facility. Please note that retrieval of the Admission PIN via the Online Application Status Facility is only applicable to those who have submitted an online application to NUS.

Please click here to send us an email with your name, application number (if applicable), date of birth, residential address, name of high school / junior college / polytechnic attended, first choice as stated in application (if applicable) and next of kin's name. Upon receiving the request, we will send you the Admission PIN via post within five working days. Please note that mails to destinations outside Singapore will take longer time to reach you.
For urgent PIN requests, please bring along your NRIC or passport to seek a replacement of your PIN from the Office of Admissions, Block E3A, Level 1, 7 Engineering Drive 1 (opposite University Cultural Centre).
