Computer Engineering is, at its core, about designing computing systems for a smarter world. From the Internet of Things that enhance our lives today, to smartphones, and industrial control systems, these sophisticated systems require intelligent software to function and complement their hardware. Computer engineering is therefore at the heart of modern living, ensuring that the physical world is connected with cyberspace to enhance how we live, learn and work.
Our four-year direct honours* Computer Engineering programme is a unique multi-disciplinary programme that brings together the fields of computer science and electrical engineering to create the synergy required for coming up with solutions for increasingly complex real-world problems. Students will not only have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge in myriad fields like computing, engineering, mathematics, physics and statistics, but they will also be able to consolidate their knowledge and gain practical experience through multiple projects and industrial attachments. This programme is further enriched with opportunities to pursue internships, NUS Overseas Colleges programmes, student exchange programmes, and minors in other domains.
Our graduates continue to enjoy some of the highest employment rate and starting pay. As a result of the multidisciplinary nature of our programme, our graduates have the flexibility of building their careers in the field of IT and other industries. Past graduates have secured employment in reputable companies in diverse fields such as Barclays Capital, Microsoft, Google, Facebook, ST Electronics, as well as in the government sector, particularly in the armed forces. In addition, our graduates have founded successful start-ups, some based on work that began as their NUS Computing course projects.
