Business Analytics is a key area of infocomm technology (ICT) involving multiple disciplines. It enables businesses and organisations to use their wealth of data to gain invaluable insights, maximise competitive advantages and improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Our 4-year direct honours* Business Analytics programme is a pioneering interdisciplinary degree programme that was launched in 2013. Hosted by the NUS Computing, in collaboration with other faculties such as the NUS Business School, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, this programme offers comprehensive training in computer science, information systems, mathematics, statistics, economics, marketing and decision science. Students are also exposed to a wide array of modules designed to develop ICT programming skills, analytics techniques and deep business knowledge (e.g. systems development for business analytics, data-driven marketing, geospatial analytics, fraud analytics, big data techniques and technologies, social media network analysis). Students have the opportunity to pursue one of the two specialisations, namely financial analytics or marketing analytics, to gain insights on key industry domains where analytics are heavily utilised.
This programme is further enriched with opportunities to pursue internships, NUS Overseas Colleges programmes, student exchange programmes, and minors in other domains (e.g. second major in Economics from Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, second major in Mathematics/Statistics from Faculty of Science, and minor in Management/Entrepreneurship from NUS Business School).
Our Business Analytics graduates will be equipped with the breadth and depth of knowledge and skills to be successful in numerous, diverse career options such as business intelligence analysts, research analysts, quantitative data modellers, data scientists, financial analysts, marketing analysts, IT business analysts and web analytics consultants – roles that are currently highly sought after in many industries.
