Business Analytics is a key area of infocomm technology (ICT) involving multiple disciplines. It enables businesses and organisations to use their wealth of data to gain invaluable insights, maximise competitive advantages and improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Our 4-year direct honours Business Analytics programme is a pioneering inter-disciplinary degree programme that was launched in 2013. Hosted by the NUS School of Computing, with participation from other faculties such as the NUS Business School, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, this programme offers comprehensive foundational training in computer science, information systems, mathematics, statistics, economics, accounting, marketing and decision science. Students are also exposed to a wide array of modules designed to hone ICT technical skills, analytics techniques and business knowledge (e.g., systems development for business analytics, data-driven marketing, healthcare analytics, big data techniques and technologies, social media network analysis). Beyond classroom learning, students have the opportunity to participate in many industry-partnered hackathons and capstone projects, and undergo compulsory industry internship stints either in local or overseas companies (e.g. Silicon Valley tech titans and startups).
Our Business Analytics graduates will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to be successful in numerous, diverse career options such as business intelligence analysts, research analysts, quantitative data modellers, data scientist, marketing analysts, IT business analysts and web analytics consultants – roles that are currently highly sought after in many industries.
