National Undergraduate Research Opportunities Programme Congress 2012
17th NUROP @ Faculty of Engineering

Introduction

From advances in science and technology flow streams of inventions which improve the quality of human life. Young scientists and engineers constitute an important driving force for the competitiveness, progress and development of a nation's education, economy, industry and research.

At NUS, we have been encouraging our young undergraduates to experience independent research work at first hand as early as possible in their studies, by participating in the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Programme (UROP). Each year, a significant number of students take up projects under the Programme, and students find out for themselves the satisfaction of discovering the unknown and the joys of inventing the future. Many of these students will proceed to graduate studies and research careers. Others will find the knowledge gained in participating in the research process useful for overcoming challenges in their careers in industry. The achievements and efforts of our students are highlighted and honoured at the annual National UROP (NUROP) Congress.

This year, the Faculty of Engineering at NUS has the honour to host the 17th NUROP Congress. We would like to extend our warmest welcome to all students who are interested to join us. You will be able to see how undergraduates at NUS are making excellent research contributions.
