Journal of Chinese OverseasIt is with great pleasure that we announce Journal of Chinese Overseas (JCO) (ISSN 1793-0391) This new cross-disciplinary journal will publish research articles, reports and book reviews on Chinese overseas throughout the world, and the communities from which they trace their origins. Moving across regions and disciplines, the Journal will examine Chineseness in its many diverse settings. With a Board of Editors drawn from fields as diverse as history, anthropology, sociology, geography, cultural studies and political science, the Journal will contribute to transnational studies, as well as the study of Chinese communities in specific national settings. The Journal is published in English twice a year (in May and November). it is published by Singapore University Press on behalf of the Chinese Heritage Centre, Singapore and under the auspices of the International Society for the Studies of Chinese Overseas. The chief editors are Professor Ng Chin-Keong and Professor Tan Chee-Beng. The inaugural issue will appear in May 2005. JCO is available by print subscription, with the first volume of the online edition published free and open access.
