Current areas of research cover the biofluidmechanics of self-propulsion in nature; associated with the flight of flapping-wing insect-type flyers and swimming of fishes (eg. Manta rays) and aquatic propulsion. Of particular interest are free manoeuvring flight of insects and free swimming of fishes/rays, which may be approached via intensive high-performance computing on with GPU-accelerated platfroms. Related experimental studies may also be conducted.
