Brief Description of Research
1. Disease model
2. Biophotonics
3. Nanoparticles & Nanomaterials
4. Laser-induced caries prevention/control

1. Building 4D caries simulation model which allows simultaneous control of 1) saliva flow and buffering capacity, 2) time intervals and quantity/quality of food/drinks, 3) 4D real-time functional imaging of biofilm/enamel structures (e.g. porosity/thickness) and dynamic site-specific quantification of H+/Ca2+ outflux/inflow using confocal fluorescent/non-linear microscopy, coupled with Nano-biosensors.
2. Non-invasive label-free confocal 3D imaging of enamel (non-linear microscopy such as SHG/THG, FLIM, coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering, and micro-Raman/stimulated Raman scattering) for diagnostics and therapeutics
3. Development of nanosensors for real-time tracking of oral biofilm pH and mineral loss
4. Development of biophotonic therapeutics for caries prevention and control
