INSIC (Information Storage Industry Consortium) recognises his contribution to tribology and head-disk interface research for the INSIC EHDR Research Program in advanced hard disk storage technology. Professor Lian Yong and his team at the Department of Mechanical Engineering were presented the IES (Institution of Engineers Singapore) Prestigious Achievement Award on 11 November 2011. They developed a "wearable" ECG chip for managing cardiovascular disease. The innovation led to the formation of a spin-off called Clearbridge VitalSigns in January 2001, with Prof Lian as the
co-founder. |
