1 : What is the application procedure to be an NGS Supervisor?
NUS faculty staffs: To apply directly to NGS using the relevant application form (with the supporting material specified in the Application Form).
The application should be endorsed by the applicant's Head of the Department and Dean and will be reviewed by an NGS Membership Committee consisting of current senior members of NGS.
RI staffs: Upon recommendation from the Executive Director (ED) of the RI, the application must be endorsed by the ED of AGA and Chairman of A*STAR. Approved applications will be sent to NGS for review.
2 : Will NGS members be paid by NGS?
No, staff remains part of their Department and Faculty. They are responsible to NGS only for supervision of NGS students and a limited amount of graduate teaching.
3 : What is the distinction between Senior and Junior NGS Faculty Members?
SENIOR
- An enthusiasm for the aims of NGS.
- International distinction in research.
- Good track record of student supervisions.
- Time and willingness to teach and supervise research students.
- Time to participate in NGS activities, including curriculum design, student recruitment, innovative coursework, and mentoring junior NGS members.
JUNIOR
- An enthusiasm for the aims of NGS.
- Substantial promise.
- Publications/awards (BMRC, Temasek, SERC, etc).
- Substantial grant income or ability to compete for peer-reviewed grants. \
- Time to participate in NGS activities, including curriculum design, student recruitment and selection, and innovative coursework.
4 : Does the Host Institution refer to the RI/NUS (Department) of the Main Supervisor?
