FAQ NGSS - GRE / TOEFL

1: Are GRE / TOEFL compulsory at the point of application?
I have good command of the English language, can I be exempted from the GRE/TOEFL tests?

GRE is compulsory for all students who are applying from overseas. Please take the GRE General Test.

TOEFL is compulsory for applicants whose native tongue or medium of undergraduate instruction is not English.

Foreigners who had studied in NUS/NTU are exempted from the GRE/TOEFL.
2 : What if I have missed the GRE/TOEFL test date, can I still apply for the scholarship?

Yes, you may still apply for the scholarship. Nevertheless you are required to submit or show documentary proof that you have registered for the GRE /TOEFL tests soon. You are also required to indicate your test date on the application form.

3 : If my GRE / TOEFL results will only be available after the application deadline, should I wait before sending in the rest of my dcouments?

No. You should submit all the rest of your supporting documents first, and indicate with a note when your GRE / TOEFL results will be ready. Once you have received your results, please forward them to us via email or send them to us by fax. You could then follow-up with the original results to us.
4 : What is your requirement of GRE & TOEFL results?

We do not have a specific score requirements as the review process will be a holistic one which will take into consideration the applicant's other academic performance, other than GRE.
5: Does NGS only accept the English score sheets (GRE and TOEFL) that are directly posted by ETS? I wonder whether I can send the copy of the score sheets I received from ETS as my application materials?

Where possible, please send us the certified true copy of your score sheets received from ETS.
