NGS Alumni Dinner 2008

The Alumni Dinner 2008 marked a new chapter in NGS history. The first cohort of NGS PhD students under the A*STAR Graduate Scholarship (AGS) have now graduated and moved on to become NGS Alumni. The Dinner provided an opportunity for graduates to gather under their new identity and reconnect with one another. Professor Li Baowen attended the Dinner enabling the Alumni to meet the new NGS Executive Director. Also introduced was Elissa Horn, the new Alumni Affairs Coordinator. Other NGS staff who attended include A/Prof Justine Burley (Deputy Executive Director), Ivy Wee and Vivien Li.

Between the laughter, scientific discussions and introductions, guest speaker Professor Sow Chorng Haur of the NUS Physics Department spoke to the recent graduates about his own experiences.  He emphasized the importance of networking and making the most of one’s freedom to research/experiment during their postdoctoral training.
