"Achieving Food Security and Sustainability for 9 Billion"

Professor Christopher J. Leaver, Emeritus Professor of Plant Science, University of Oxford, presented a seminar entitled "Achieving Food Security and Sustainability for 9 Billion" on 04 February, Monday from 10am -11.30am at the CeLS Auditorium Level 1, Centre for Life Sciences Building.

Prof Leaver’s talk covered the overarching critical issues and challenges in food security – political, social, economic, geographic, climate and technological – that countries across the globe, regardless of how developed they are, increasingly face. He also listed ongoing and possible future research strategies, efforts and technologies in raising agricultural sustainability and productivity, while also emphasizing the importance of life-cycle analysis of new methods to evaluate their effectiveness in contributing to food production and security.
