Professor Wong Limsoon

Acting Executive Director Prof Wong Limsoon is Kwan-Im-Thong-Hood-Cho-Temple Chair Professor in the School of Computing at the National University of Singapore (NUS). He is a Fellow of the ACM, inducted in 2013 for his contributions to database theory and computational biology. He currently works mostly on knowledge discovery technologies and their application to biomedicine. In particular, he likes to identify interesting ways of using logic in analyzing omics data and in more general problem solving. +65 6516 2902 dcswls@nus.edu.sg

Associate Professor Tang Bor Luen

Deputy Executive Director (Programmes) A/Prof Tang graduated from NUS with MSc and PhD. He was a research associate with the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology, and joined the Department of Biochemistry in 2001. A cell biologist by training, his current research is on aspects of growth, death, regeneration and membrane dynamics of neurons and glia. Dr Lee Siew Ching Joan

Senior Lecturer / Assistant Director (Students)

Dr Joan Lee was an A*STAR scholar and graduated from NGS in 2009. She completed a research fellowship in neuro-oncology at the National Neuroscience Institute (SingHealth) and joined NGS in 2012.

Dr Joan Lee works closely with the NGS Deanery to help students overcome the difficulties that arise during their candidature. She is the school’s Student Support Manager and has participated in workshops conducted by the University Counselling Services (UCS) and the Student Support Services in the Office of Student Affairs (S3-OSA).

Associate Professor Caroline Lee

Deputy Executive Director (Admissions) A/Prof Caroline Lee obtained her PhD in Biochemistry/Genetics from Baylor College of Medicine and did her postdoctoral training with Michael Gottesman (Deputy Director, NIH) at the National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health (NCI/NIH). She returned to Singapore to become a faculty at the National University of Singapore with concurrent appointments as Assoc Professor at the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School as well as Principal Investigator at the National Cancer Centre. Her research interest is in functional genomics of hepatocellular cancer, population and pharmacogenomics, and employing big data genomic strategies to understand disease processes, biomarker discovery and predicting drug response. Professor Ding Jeak Ling

Deputy Executive Director (Students) Her research interests include Host-pathogen interaction, Innate immune signaling and Cancer immunomodulation. Dr Rafi Rashid

Lecturer / Assistant Director (Programmes) Dr Rafi Rashid has been with NGS since 2016. Before assuming his current role, he was a Research Fellow at the Singapore Centre for Environmental Life Sciences Engineering (SCELSE) where he pursued innovative research on the role of lipids in antimicrobial resistance in bacteria. He is an alumnus of NGS and completed his PhD in 2013. He was fortunate enough to work on an interdisciplinary project that involved using biophysical techniques to understand the role of macromolecular crowders in stem cell differentiation. +65 6601 5840 ngsrr@nus.edu.sg
