NUS Graduate School for Integrative Sciences and Engineering

NUS-Karolinska Institute Programme

Joint PhD Programme of
National University of Singapore (NUS) and Karolinska Institute (KI)

The Joint NUS-KI PhD brings together 2 of the world’s top 50 institutions in medical and bio-medical research.

Karolinska Institutet (KI) is very much the history of Swedish medicine. Its vision is to significantly contribute to the improvement of human health. Today, it is on the cutting-edge of numerous medical and bio-medical fields. In fact, it accounts for over 40 per cent of the medical academic research conducted in Sweden, and offers the country's broadest range of education in medicine and health sciences. The Nobel Assembly at Karolinska Institutet selects the Nobel laureates in Physiology or Medicine.

A Joint PhD programme taps into and combines the unique and distinctive strengths of both NUS’ and our partner institution’s, and effectively integrates international learning, exposure and experience fully into a student's course of study and research. Students will be jointly taught, supervised, assessed, and will be awarded a PhD degree from both NUS and KI, issued separately.

The Joint NUS-KI PhD programme is fronted by NGS, and caters to students with research interests in the area of bio-medicine and bioengineering.  It is especially suitable for those whose research will reap maximum benefits from the collaborative research between NUS and KI.
