Stress Management with Applied Behaviour Psychology (506)

Short Title: Stress Management Skills

The stress faced by professional staff is substantial. How can you as a professional stay in control of your workload and to handle job frustrations without becoming worn out, irritable or depressed. You can learn to handle stress, having ways of taking the rough with the smooth, keeping a sense of humor and renewing your energy and resources so that working life continues to bring pleasure and reward.

Often we ourselves are the biggest source of stress in our lives. This talk is unusual in that it really gets to grips with the role of personality, with how people interpret situations, and with the role of the individual's underlying belief system in creating and fostering stress. It does this in a way which is optimistic and constructive, showing how we can move to a deeper understanding of ourselves and giving practical exercises in learning how to do things differently.

Objectives:

1. Understand the causes and effects of stress on personal health.
2. Appreciate the importance of managing stress at work.
3. Use various techniques for stress relief and management.
4. Adjust successfully to the high stress of living and enjoy working in a highly competitive world.
5. Able to project a positive self-image and perform work professionally and effectively.
