IV-Sigma: A "Bridge-to-Business" Programme for Young NUS Alumni

NUS Extension and Strategic Moves, a training and consultancy firm, with support from NUS Office of Alumni Relations, are proud to present IV-Sigma, a stimulating training programme for bright young NUS alumni.

About the Programme

IV-Sigma is a rigorous, time-optimising, five-day programme designed to equip participants with the ability to apply in-combination four essential skills that are necessary for high performance at the workplace. These skills are:

• Module 1: Strategic/Crisis Communications [“Soft” module]:
  Strategic communication involves effectively articulating information and messages to make them most persuasive to the target audience. Participants will also learn about the different types of media and their characteristics, and use the right media to gain the highest mileage. Learning to control the tone and underlying thrust of the message is also another important aspect of the training.
• Module 2: Strategic Negotiation [“Soft-Hard” module]:
  Strategic negotiation gives participants the opportunity to learn from the experience of expert trainers, glean best practices, experiment with and evolve their own ideas based on participants' own personality and strengths. Participants will also engage in hands-on role play scenarios using the framework developed by the Harvard Negotiation Project. Trainers will demonstrate how the framework applies even in complex and highly hostile situations.
• Module 3: Project Management [“Hard-Soft” Module]:
  This module teaches participants how to assess the risks, estimates and contracts involved in any project. Through the course, participants will gain an understanding of developing a formal project plan, the five stages in a project cycle, and how to manage budgets and deadlines. The “soft” side of the module teaches participants how to manage and lead a project team, and deliver on target without compromising on the quality.
• Module 4: Financial Management [“Hard” module]:
  This module aims to equip managers and executives, especially those who are non-finance trained, with the skills to identify, understand and apply relevant financial information in their area of work. From reading balance sheet, P&L statements and cash flow statement, to understanding how to read between the lines to interpret financial information, this module differentiates the participants by giving them the knowledge to improve margins and demonstrate tangible values to their organisations.
