Synopsis

Why EQ is important, and how can it help corporate leaders to lead their people, improve team building, and enhance productivity?

What do most effective and well-respected corporate executives have in common? According to researchers and professionals, they are influential and persuasive in their dealings with people. If you can influence people, manage relationships (e.g., with your colleagues, subordinates, bosses, and customers), and empower teams, you would have a competitive edge in terms of corporate or business success. In short, the ability to lead or manage people is known as emotional intelligence. One study that included 35,000 professionals from about 20 different organisations showed that overall, EQ predicts success three times more than IQ, experience, or personality. Another study showed that sales and customer service professionals with higher EQ are four times more effective in bringing in more sales and making their customers happy than their peers with lower EQ.
