In Singapore, maintaining a high quality of drinkable water is an utmost priority of PUB (Singapore Water Agency). Hence, the Agency is constantly looking for newer and better solutions to address current and future challenges in drinking water. Given that the current integrated water cycle is a complex system, Environment and Water Industry Programme Office (EWIPO) has setup an initiative called Visiting Professor Programme (VPP). The aim of VPP is to invite international expertise to enhance Singapore's manpower capacity development to meet future demand and changes in the water industry.
In this regards, EWIPO has funded NERI to host the 1st Visiting Professor, Professor Avner Adin from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Professor Adin is an expert on water and sewerage systems design and pumping stations, water quality and treatment technology and is tasked to work with NUS and PUB researchers in the following research studies:
On 14 March 2013, NERI together with Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the Department of Chemistry hosted a joint seminar bringing together all researchers under this Programme. It was a good platform for EWIPO colleagues, NUS researchers and community, industry and public to learn about the up-to-date research findings under this VPP.
