The Global Young Scientist Summit (GYSS@one-north) held from 20 - 25 January 2013 brought together bright young researchers from all over the world to Singapore to be inspired by internationally eminent science and technology leaders. Apart from lectures and plenary sessions, the participants had the opportunities to visit universities and research centres.
NERI was one of the hosts when the participants visited NUS on 24 January 13.
Prof Ong Choon Nam, Director of NERI shared about NERI's mission and research directions. The participants learnt about the on-going research programmes and activities, followed by a comprehensive guided tour of the laboratory facilities.
Three of the participants NERI spoke to; Dr Mingmin Wang of GE Global Research (China), Ms Claudia D' Ambrosio of CNRS, Ecole Polytechnique (France) and Dr Regina C. So of Ateneo de Manila University (Philippines), agreed that the visit was interesting and educational, and were impressed with NERI laboratory facilities.
For NERI, this has been a good opportunity to showcase NUS research on environmental and water and to cultivate potential collaborators worldwide.
