About the Presenting Companies:

Acacia Biomedical Pte Ltd

Acacia Biomedical was started to exploit its patented platform technology in fully biodegradable drug eluting stent which has applications in coronary / peripheral vascular / ureteric / pulmonary stenting applications. The work is fully supported by one of the largest research group in NTU. The comparative advantage is its multi layered self expanding stent, which is not only fully biodegradable but capable of releasing drugs with extensive flexibility in the drug release profiles. This makes its technology at least a generation ahead of the recently commercialized Drug Eluting Stents.

Biomers (http://www.biomersbraces.com)

BioMers is a venture engaged in developing polymer composite products for biomedical applications. By exploiting BioMers' patent pending technologies in the fabrication of fibre reinforced polymer composites, translucent orthodontic braces have been developed to meet the unfulfilled market demand for braces that are not clearly visible to others and have the necessary mechanical properties to straighten teeth effectively. With a superior product, BioMers targets the 1 million orthodontic patients in the U.S. who are currently seeking an aesthetic treatment for their crooked teeth. BioMers' products have generated interest from the two leading companies in the orthodontic industry and has recently been approached for possible partnerships.

BioMers seeks investment to complete product development, obtain regulatory approval and begin manufacturing of the products.

Its comparative technological advantage is its use of a impedance type mechanism to move fluids which can do without any forms of membranes, impellers, valves, to provide fully laminar and non impeded flow. The company is actively seeking funding at seed stage presently.

The Company has contracted with Aptuit in Scotland and Guys Hospital/Quintiles in London to conduct the pre-clinical and Phase I clinical trials of its first product, a small orally available analgesic peptide. This pain medication derived from the King Cobra snake promises to be a very exciting and novel pain medication that has been engineered to show no toxic side effects.
