INNOVATE 2005
NUS Entrepreneurship Centre, together with International Relations Office (IRO), co-organized the part of the INNOVATE 2005 conference held in Singapore from 6 to 9 March 2005. The conference continued in Tokyo till 13 March 2005.
INNOVATE 2005 was a conference for undergraduate and graduate technical students that examines the relationship between technology, globalization, and leadership in the contemporary marketplace. During the ten-day symposium, students studied four themes: the relationship between academia, government, and industry; technical innovation and entrepreneurship; ethical obligations of technology use; and effective global leadership.
The National University of Singapore was part of a consortium of universities, led by Rice University of US, that was organizing the INNOVATE conference. We had a group of about 70 students, university faculty, and staff attending the symposium. The participating students represented many nationalities and universities. The key participants were from Rice University, Georgia Tech University, North Carolina State University, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Keio University, and the National University of Singapore.
The program for the Singapore segment included site visits to Micron Singapore, TECH semiconductor, Biopolis, Newater Facility by Hyflux, Zagro, Lynk Biotechnologies, and NUS Business Incubator. The program continued in Japan with visits to Toyota and NTT Docomo, etc. |
