Abstract:
Entrepreneurship - The government has been actively promoting it. Our education system is revamped to nurture the spirit of enterprise. The regulatory environment has been relaxed to be more accommodative. Access to financing for start-ups and SMEs have improved. And finally, more and more local entrepreneurs such as Oliver Lum of Hyflux and Ron Sim of Osim are making headlines. So is Entrepreneurship really the way to go?
Come and be inspired by Eddie Chau, President and CEO of e-Cop, the region's leading Info-Security Technologies and Services Provider; as he shares the pains and gains of embarking on the entrepreneur route, the motivation behind his success and why entrepreneurship takes more than just a "fire in the belly".
About the Speaker:
As founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of e-Cop, Eddie Chau charts all aspects of the group company's strategic direction, including global expansion, technology and product development, innovation, technical support and sales. Chau's leadership extends to the development of key business and strategic alliances, and to guiding the company in its vision to be the leading and admired trendsetter in the critical info-security services and solutions domain.
Before founding e-Cop in 2000, Chau held senior positions in the IT sector, most recently as General Manager of IBM - Tivoli Systems (ASEAN/South Asia), and Regional Vice President, Sales and Marketing (Asia) for interBiz, Computer Associates Inc. With over 20 years of experience in business and IT, he is often called upon by the industry to speak on information security issues. Chau has also appeared on CNBC Asia and Channel News Asia, and in CIO Asia, Intelligent Enterprise, MIS Asia, Network Computing Asia and SC Magazine, to name a few.
Married with two children, Chau holds an MBA from the Newport University through distance learning and an MSc in Communication Engineering from Imperial College, London.
