Abstract
One of the most telling ways to measure the relative
'health' of a country is to scrutinize Gross Domestic
Product and makeup of the Market Economy. Within
any place, be it a super-power or part of the so-called
third world it will have classes of activity responsible
for its wealth-generation. Early days will invariably
see governments involved in all manner of activity
Private Enterprise either lacked the skill for or
capital to do it itself. Development progress will
see less and less of government involvement with
conservative, stable secondary industry providing
the first foundations of the fledgling economy and
infrastructure. This process continues until internally
generated opportunities begin to arise ushering
in an era of Creative Enterprise finally freed of
the burden of massive capital requirement. In the
lead of the enthusiastic throng welcoming this new
era are to be seen The Entrepreneurs who can be
recognized by their apparel since they are dressed
for risk. The vitality and momentum generated by
a higher ratio of Entrepreneurs within the Market
Economy is to be likened to a good heartbeat - the
stronger and more consistent it is - the more robust
the country's health. The lonely Cheerleaders of
earlier years will have been made up almost entirely
by founding fathers and enlightened friends. To
be certain the growing tempo continues to increase,
it is now the Public's turn to join in monitoring
the Entrepreneur's pulse and by their support, and
a little 'help from science', ensure we avoid any
long-term need for economic surgery.
