Abstract
The amount of venture capital raised has fallen
sharply in 2001 compared to a year earlier. The
same is true for the amount invested. However,
the amount of VC money invested in the first half
of 2001 is still more than the amount invested
in the first half of 1999. VCs have also raised
a large sum of money and are sitting on a huge
pile of cash that needs to be invested (or returned
to the investors.) Despite the gloom of the post
dot-com era, good businesses will still be funded
- only that the valuation and the time it takes
to close a deal have returned to a more realistic
level. If you are seeking venture capital financing,
will do so in the not so distant future, or just
want to know what is happening in the world of
venture investing, you may want to spend an hour
of your time attending this seminar. Topics covered
include: what VCs look for, elements of a good
investment opportunity, qualities of an ideal
entrepreneur, valuation, and some of the terms
of VC investment.
