Abstract
The exemplar of a successful multinational is General
Electric no matter what criteria is used to measure performance.
Senior Vice President Ron Gilbert will address GE Capital's
approach to risk management in the Asia-Pacific region
along with GE Capital's integration of quality into its
processes and products. GE Capital has been a major contributor
to GE's financial success in the '90's
About the Speaker
Mr Ronald Gilbert graduated with a B.A. in Economics from
the American University in Washington, D.C. He worked
for the U.S. Government's Price Commission and Cost of
Living Council participating in the country's war against
inflation during the early 1970's. Subsequently, he attended
the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania
and received a MBA with a concentration in finance. Mr
Gilbert's career prior to GE included work with the Chase
Manhattan Bank, which focused on lending to major industrial
and communication companies. He joined GE Capital as Senior
Vice President - Operations in 1989, and was appointed
assistant to the Chief Credit Officer in 1991. He has
overseen the underwriting and portfolio management of
commercial and transportation portfolios. In 1996, he
was appointed Chief Risk Manager of GE Capital Technology
Management Services - a provider of information technology
outsourcing and system integration services. In February
1998, he was name Chief Risk Manager of GE Capital Asia
Pacific, with responsibility of operations in Australia,
China, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines,
Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand. Mr Gilbert is also a board
member of General Electric Commercial Finance, a limited
license bank in Hong Kong.
