Introduction
Start-Up to Growth: High-Tech CEO/Founder/Co-Founder Mentoring Workshop
23 Jan, 2006 (Mon)
Welcome to Start-Up to Growth High-Tech CEO/Founder/Co-Founder Mentoring Workshop 2006
It is easy to start companies, but the real challenge is to move beyond the start-up stage into high growth take-off. For most high tech start-ups in Singapore, expanding into international markets is critical, because of the small domestic market and the fact that the lead-users for most high tech innovations are in advanced regions like Silicon Valley, Japan and increasingly China.
This one-day intensive workshop is targeted at CEOs, Founders or Co-Founders of Singapore technology based companies of early stage high tech start-ups seeking to move from the start-up phase into growth phase. The workshop will address the strategic challenges that start-ups will need to overcome, including: targeting and getting the first major customer, obtaining follow-on investment and negotiation strategies, recruiting and building a core team, and making the first international market entries.
The workshop will be jointly conducted by Bob Lin, a seasoned venture capitalist from Silicon Valley who have guided numerous high tech start-ups to successful exits (including several Nasdaq IPOs), and Assoc. Prof. Wong Poh Kam, director of NUS Entrepreneurship Centre, who have conducted extensive research on high tech start-ups. Drawing on Bob’s practical experience and Wong’s research insights, the workshop will provide a strategic framework for achieving and managing the transition from start-up to growth illustrated through a series of real-life case studies, and offer practical advices on how their lessons can be applied to your start-up, and how common pitfalls can be avoided.
