Abstract

A thousand-mile journey begins with the first step. Ladder’s story towards globalization is legendary and insightful. In this speech, Mr. Yen will share with us Ladder’s growth strategy and its winning principles behind its success. With a humble beginning, Mr. Yen used only NT$ 8,000 and invested in the education market, Mr. Yen created his first magazine—Ladder English Magazine. Later, he won the sole agency service of BBC English teaching materials for mainland China and Taiwan. Ladder rose to fame swiftly afterwards. It acquired the agency service for English teaching materials such as PACE-ICE and NEC successively and in the meantime, the Ladder English Magazine also won the market. In the early 1990s, Ladder established “dream factory” in mainland China and invested in full sail on multimedia education to meet the IT age. In 1998, it started e-learning business. In 2001, he proposed the idea of T-MEET(Technology, Media, Entertainment, Education, Telecommunication)and led Ladder to the e-learning frontier. In this speech, Mr. Yen will share his experience of Ladder’s growth and its strategy of combining technology and education.
