About The Speaker

Anand Jagannathan is an experienced start-up CEO and technologist who has successfully founded and launched four companies – Kriyari, Responsys, Reach Software and Banyan Systems. Anand’s current company, Kriyari has launched a consumer shopping site – iStorez (www.istorez.com) that offers a unique visual shopping experience across hundreds of major brands and retailers. The company has a special partnership with the National University of Singapore.

Anand was the founding CEO of Responsys Inc, which is currently ranked by Forrester and Jupiter as the leader in on-demand email and lifecycle marketing. Responsys’ Asia HQ is based in Singapore.

Anand launched his entrepreneurial career with Banyan Systems (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Banyan_(company)), which became a worldwide leader in enterprise networking and was the solution of choice for many leading Global 1000 companies. Anand was very instrumental in bringing the vision of Banyan to various organizations in Singapore, which all standardized on the VINES networking system.

Anand’s second company was Reach Software, an early pioneer in email and workflow that is also credited with delivering the first Windows based email application.

Anand has a Ph.D. from Rice University and a B.S. from I.I.T/Kanpur. He holds three patents for ideas that he developed at Reach Software and Bell Laboratories. He also has a number of patents pending on Kriyari’s technology.

Synopsis:

Anand started his first company Banyan Systems in 1983. He will talk about the lessons learned from his entrepreneurial career over the last 25 years. Some of the topics that he will cover are:

  • What gets an entrepreneur started?
  • What does it take to get going – team, financing, customers, revenues etc?
  • How do you recognize your company’s unique value proposition?
  • How do you ‘cross the chasm’?
  • How do you build a successful company that gives you a return?
