William Barton and Orava String Quartet

One of Australia's leading didjeridu players and composers, William Barton is a powerful advocate for the wider perception of his cultural traditions. Born in Mount Isa, he was taught the instrument by his uncle, an elder of the Waanyi, Lardil and Kalkadunga tribes of western Queensland. Together with the Orava String Quartet from Sydney, William Barton conducts a workshop on improvisational techniques at the Conservatory.
William Barton and the Orava String Quartet will also be performing at the University Cultural Centre Theatre on Fri 22 Jan 10, 8pm.
