The outcome of composition in any multi-disciplinary collaboration can be said to be the result of the interactions between the composer, and performers or other circumstantial influences. As a composer, it is of interest to investigate how these forms are made by their collaborative partners. Five Letters for an Eastern Empire is based on a book of the same title by Alasdair Gray.
